"I understand art as a means of exploration that seeks the essential. Therefore, it is not accumulation but emptiness, where the artistic object is stripped of content until it reaches nothing, until it abandons this medium called art."

HIDDEN PORTRAITS
IN THE AGE OF
SELFIES

This series, titled Hidden Portraits, employs the technique of collage in contrast to the digital images on our cell phones, which appear luminous and falsely embellished by the filter technology of their cameras.

These collages explore the human inner landscape, searching for the opposite space to the hedonistic self that, beneath that mask of artifice, conceals the unique individual we truly are.

The works are composed of pages from erased, crossed-out, or torn-up books (symbols of the culture we seek to reinterpret from a different perspective; in psychoanalytic terms, returning to our origins in order to purge them).

The images in these collages take refuge in their intimacy and isolation from all social noise constructed by the culture of overexposure. The search for silence is the goal as a regenerator of this new "self."
